C., WED] READY TO HANDLE 1922 COTTON CROP Cclumbia, July 17.-All o fthe cot ton co-operative associations organiz ed this year will be ready to handle the 1922 crop, according to D. G. Hill, Jr., of Dallas, Texas, office expert, of the American Cotton Growers' Ex change, who is in Columbia for a few days advising with officials of the South Carolina Cotton Growers' Co operative Association. Five States have organized this year, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Arkansas and Alabama. Arkansas and North Carolina are ready to receive cotton now. South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama will be ready by the 1st of August. Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona and Mississippi associations functioned last year and are ready, of course to receive the 1922 crop, Mr. Hill said. The results attained in those States last year were very satisfactory to the members, he said, notwithstand ing the fact that those associations had to pave the way and naturally made some mistakes at first hnt the associations beginnig business this year will not make. 2,500,000 Bales Signed A total of approximately 2,500, 000 has been signed up in the nine States, acoerding to Mr. Hill. The sign-up by bales: Texas, 552,000 bales; Arkansas, 2,150,000 bales; North Carolina, 400,000 bales; Geor gia, 268,000 bales; Alabama, 125, 000 hales, and Arizona, 50,000 bales. Considerable more cotton will be signed up in all of the States be fore September 1, according to Mr. Hill. Arrangements for financing the 1922 crop have been made by all of the States, it was said. All of the States have selected their sales managers and other offli eer s. The executive committee of the South Carolina Association will meet Tuesday and the board of directors will meet Thursday of this week,, it was stated yesterday. Carl Williams president of the A merican Cotton Growers' Exchange will meet with the boa rd on Thursday. After a very pleasant social inter course with these good people, it was anounced that dinner was ready. gathering around an old time picnic table on the yard, our eyes beheld many good things to appease the hunger and thirst of the many pleas ant faces among the good looking wo men and pretty girls as well as the men folks, who had endeavored, no doubt as well as our self, to get on a Sunday smile. Although spending some three or four hours at this place, the time seemed extremely short, and we are hoping strong for the time to come, when we may have the pleasure of mingling among the hospital people of that section of the county again. From the encouragement , received during the day from a political stand point, we are obliged to say that we were perfectly delighted. At some date in the near future, we hope to have an opportunity to see many oth er good people in the entire Salem and Turbeville neighborhood and give them our "speel" as a candidate for the House of Representatives. On account of the excessive heavy rains, the crop situation in some sec tions at least are not very encourag ing. However, we found the farmers taking the situation in a good natured way. After which, we hope to visit Al colu, Harvin, Paxville and Silver and this will about put us over the coun ty. If we meet with the same favor among the people in this territory as we have where we have already been, we shall certainly be hsappy and see no reason why we shall not be elect ed.
