Gerald went to Charles ton, for a medical examination last Friday. Mrs. T. M. Wells has - returned home from a visit to relatives in Georgia. Dr. W. R. Barron and Mr. DuPree of Columbia, spent last Friday in Clarendon shooting birds. Mr. Joe Yassney has purchased the home he is now living in from the Andrew Burgess estate. Mr. Wim. Clark of Kingstree, spent Sunday afternoon with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Clark. The Thursday night bridge club met with Miss Tora Bagnal last Thursday night. Sheriff J. E. 'Gamble spent a few clays last week in Columbia,-on busi ness. The many friends of Hon. Charlton DuRant are glad to see him out again after a week's illness. Miss Frances Harvin who is at school in Columbia, spent the week end with her parents at Harvin. Little Miss Valley Taylor was hos tess at a birthday party Tuesday afternoon. The Civic League will meet Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock. A good atten dance is urged. Miss Banney Bass of Greenville, is visiting her sister, Mrs. B. A. John son. Miss Lurline Kinder of Kingstree, spent Sunday afternoon here with friends. Mr. W. N. Greigs of Georgetown, was in town Monday attending the hearing in the Sallie McKnight Clark will case. Married licenses were issued to Mr. Charles Henry Barwick of Paxville, and Miss Ola Mildred Graham of Pinewood, on February 7th. Mr. Hugh Plowden, County Auditor who was sick at his home with grippe last week is able to be at his office again. Senator Davis Moise of Sumter, was in town Monday attending the hearing in the Will case of Sallie Mc Knight Clark. Sheriff J. E. Gamble has bought the house recently owned by H. Stein hardt opposite the Baptist Church. He will shortly move into it. Messrs. Harry Riff and D. Hirsch mann returned Friday night from New York City, where they have been purchasing their Spring goods. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Ewart who have been living in Spartanburg, for some time will make their home here in the future. Mirs. Hattie T. Miss Augusta Appelt returned home from Washington Sunday, where she went to re-enlist in the government service. She will leave March first for North Carolina, where she will be stationed. The arguments in the Sallie Mc Knight Clarke Will case was made be fore J. M. Windham, Probate Judge on last Monday, on motion of council for respondents the case was held open until February 20th at 12 o'clock noon for the purpose of allowing Judge Mendel L. Smith to prepare an argument, and file with the Judge of Probate. Judge Smith being so indisposed could not appear in person to argue the case. Can it be that the ladies of the town have forgotten that a beautiful line of Spring samples were to be shown last Friday and Saturday afternoon from 3 to 6? The same will be repeated Friday and Saturday 19th and 18th. Come! It means 10 and 16 per cent. for the Library debt.
