At a meeting held in the Probate Judge's office last Monday by the Confederate Teterans of Clarendon County the following were elected the Board of Honor: J. T. Stukes, chairman; I. N. Tobias, S. Y. Barnes. Bishop Guerry, of Charleston, will conduct services in the Episcopal Church on Tuesday night, January 24th. The members of the different denominations are cordially invited to attend these services. Aiken jail despite the fact tl'at a lozen men from Gdorgia came to Aiken today and declared- that the three men are employes ons the construction force on the Georgia and1 Florida Railway at Hephizbah, Ga. This, the solicitor does not dispute, but as two of the men were identified as the partis who passed forged checks here on three bank cashiers of Aiken, Messrs' Par due, of The Western. Caroliip; Thomas, of the Farmers' and Mer chants', and Schroder, of First Na tional Bank, the solicitor has advised the magitsrate to hold the men and woman under heavy bonds, $4,000 for J. C. Westberry, $4,000 for Sam H. Padgett, $4,000 for Melton Lyles and $3,000 for Mrs. Padgett., Should bond be given in the Aiken cases, a warrant await- the four for alleged forgeries on Newberry banks, issued by Sheriff Cannon Blease, of (that county. Cashier Drake, of the City Na tional Bank, of Griffin, Ga'., and Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Bell, of the Griffin Banking Company, have positively identified two of the party. Surety companies in this place and Augusta were tried today in an effort to secure bond but without success. Detective' Whitehead, of the Burns Agency, has the pages taken from five Georgia and South Carolina banks bearing identical handwriting with that found on the forged checks.
