The many friends of 'Mrs. John Wilson will be glad to learn that she is improving after an operation in a hospital in Sumter about three weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Blanding, Misses Francis and Margaret Bland ing spent Thanksgiving day with Mrs. M. E. Brown. Mrs. Brown, Misses Louise and Francis Brown accom panied them home to spend the week end. ' Mrs. Fannie Pack Osteen will give a recital next Friday evening, Decem ber 2nd, in the Auditorium of the School House. A silver offering will be taken;' the entertainment is for the benefit of the South Carolina Association for the Blind. There are over 1,000 tax executions in Clarendon county yet, and unless paid mighty quick, the sheriff will be forced to advertise this property and sell it for taxes. We are told there is some very desirable town property in this bunch. Dr. H. L. Crouch presented the fire department with $10.00 in behalf of the Dickson Drug Store for the service they rendered in keeping their store from burning during the New Idea Co., fire Thanksgiving morning. The company appreciates this, donation, and especially so coming in such hard times, and aith such a scarcity of money. Last Saturday night while on his way home, Mr. David Plowden ran his automobile into a deep ditch about three miles east of Manning. Mrs. John Perry, his sister, was riding with him. Fire totally destroyed the house and furniture of Mr. Dave Beatson about two miles from Manning on the Sum merton road Thanksgiving night about 8 o'clock. The family was away all day and the cause of the fire is unknown. Mr. Beatson had some insurance. Mr. Thompson Wilder, vell remem bered in Manning, but who has been in the government senvice in the Philippines for about fifteen years, and for the past fifteen years has been in the Customs House at Balti more, is visiting his sister, M.d.
