Mr. Julian Weinberg, who had been a patient in the Toumey Hospital at Sumter for a couple of weeks, return (d home Thursday last. Ed Ballard was arrested and lodged in jail last week for forging the name of J. R. Jones to checks, and he sue ceeded in getting them cashed. Mrs. Gertrude Sistrunk spent Sat urday with her daughter, Mrs. 1. 11. Peak, in Sumter, Mrs. Peak is a pa tient in the Toumey Hlospital. Dr. .1. A. Col'2 of Manning has been appointed by the government for this district to do the demtal work of all ex-service men free of charge. There will be Children's Dlay ser vices at Bethlehem church, Davis Sta tion, next Sunday. The public is cor dially invited to attend. Rev. .1. A. Easly, who had just re turned from his hoaeymoon, was call ed to his home in Greenville last Fri day on account of the death of his father. The road to the Suniter county line has been completed as far as cutting out the right of way and making the fills. Now if Sumter would fix its pat t of the road it -would only take a few minutes to go from Manning to Sumter--the two best. towns in the State. We are told that there is a move ment on foot to erect a monument on the Court llouse Square to the mem - ory of the boys who were called into the service during the world war. This movement will not be for those that saw active service in Europe alone, but to allI that were called. No other county, in the State has done such as yet, and we hope Clarendon will be the irst to erect a monument to those who offered their livs for their country.
