Baker, Supervis ing Agent State Boys' Club Work, that the Holstein-Friesian Associa tion of America, F. L. Houghton, Secretary, Brattleboro, Vermont, is offering $100.00 to the five teams making the highest Mores in the judging of Holstein-Friesian cattle. To keep this crop in good condi tion, the' potatoes should be well ma tured before digging and free from{ disease, - but be sure to -dig before frost. 2. The only safe and practical me thod of storing sweet potatoes is in a well-built, up-to-date storage house. 5. Suggestions on storing and de tailed information on how to con struct a suitable storage house are contained in Farmers' Bulletin 970 published by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, which can be obtained' from your County Agent, Division of Publication, U. S. Department of Ag riculture, Washington, D. C., or from the undersigned. 6. The secrets of success in get ting high prices are to grade, clean, and pack the potato carefully and to keep it upon the market when there is a keen demand. 7. The greatest demand for sweet potatoes is, as a rule, from the mid dIe of December to the middle of . March. 8. The market demands a medium sized, uniform type of sweet potatoes, free from bruises or decayed spots. I 9. In grading, all undersized and K the large, overgrown, crooked-broken, j or bruised potatoes should be kept at : home for feeding or for cann.ing. 10. After carefully grading, sweet potatoes should be put in clean, neat, attractive packages. Bags should never be used as the potatoes in them become badly bruised when handled.
