That every person, firm, ompany or corporation engaged in my trade, business or profession ereinafter mentioned within the lim ts of the town of Manning shall be equired on or before the 1st day of 4 ebruary, 1919, to obtain a license A o exercise said trade, business or )rofession within the limits of the A aid town; and every person, firm or I orporation not now so engaged, but xpecting to engage in such trade, )usiness or profession after the 1st ] lay of January of the present year, hall be required to first obtain license o exercise same, all the said license ] o be fixed according to the schedule ] mad amounts hereinafter set forth. ] Section 2. Every firm, company or orporation required by the ordinance if the town of Manning to obtain a icense to engage in any trade, busi iess or profession for which a license s required, shall, before the 15th (lay )f January of each year, register with he town clerk, first his or her name r style, and in case of a firm or ompany, and the place of business; econd, the trade, business or profes ;ion for which a license is required; he place where such trade, business >r profession is carried on in the case fa dealer in goods, wares or mer handise, the amount, extent and ralue of the business carried on, all )f which shall be given under oath. It shall )e duty of the town clerk to assess ill persons, firms, companies and cor )arations liable for town license mnder the ordinances of this town, md enter the same in a book to. be nown as the License Book, giving a lassified and complete list of all such iersons, firms, companies and corpo rations who are liable for town li :ense, and the amount of license for wvhich they are liable, which licenses hall be obtained as herein provided, J n or before the I st day of February, 1919. License shall be issued by the lcrk and Treasurer, who shall keep t record of all licenses fixed by the )rdinances of the town of Manning m(d assessed by him under authority thereof as aforesaid in the manner prescribed by the laws of the State f South Carolina and the ordinances )f the town of Manning. Section 4. If any person exercise >r carry on any trade, business or profession for the exercising carry ing on or doing of which a license is required by this ordinance, without first registering or taking out such a license as in that behalf required, he, she or they, besides being liable to the payment of the license, shall be subject to a fine not to exceedl $40 or imprisonment for a time not to ex reeed thirty (lays, upon01 conviction be fore the Mayor or Acting Mayor. Section 5. In every license to be taken out under or by authority of this ordinance, shall be containedl andl set forth the purpose, trade, business or profession for which such license is granted, andl the name and place of business of the person or persons5 taking out the same, and the time for wvhich it is g.ranted. TIhe Clerk andl Treasurer shall prepaire a form of license to be used in each case, and shall have the same printedl andt bound in 1book form, in a neat andl substantial manner, wvith a proper stubl aittached to each, upon which shall be written, at the time the li cense is issuied the name of the party obtaining the same, the length of time coveredl by such license, to gether with the amount charged therefor; and the party receiving such license shall keep the same p)ost ed in some conspicuous place where his businiessi, tradle or profession is carriedl on. Any evasions of the pro visionis of this Stction shall be sub ject to a penalty of not more thani $40O or thirty (lays imprisonment. Section 6. The license grantedl un der this ordlinance shall not authorize the per~son, Iirm. comOan orI1 m)P'jr' tion mentioned therein, to exercise or carry on tradle, business or profession specified in such license in any other place than that mentioned therein. All licenses issued on and after Feb r~ury 1st alli not be for less than the current year unless otherwise p~ro vidted herein. Section 8. The Clerk and Treas rer shall consult the Committee on inance where the occupation of any pplicant for license, or amount to harged is questioned, and the >mmittee shall have power to decide ie matter. Section 11. The Clerk and Treas rer shall be required to turn over to fe Police Department, the names of Il delinquent license payers imme iately after the 1st of February, )19, and the Police Department 1all immediately bring the delin tent before the Mayor for violation P this ordinance. Section 12. That the Council shall ave the power to revoke any license r just cause. Section 13.
