At tho~hour of going to press with this edition the vote stood: Dial ------- ------ ---------.45,997 Blease -------- -------- --..-27,703 Rice --------.----- -------- 3,121 Mr. Dial's lead over Blease was 18, 294 and steadily growing. It is prob able that. the majority against Blease will approximate 30,090 when the to tal vote has been accounted' for. Short Tern Senate In the race for the short ternm Sen ate, the vote as accounted for at 1 o'clock stood: Benet, 17,245; Peeples, 18,320; Pollock, 19,053. There will be a second race between two of the three. Governor's iace . In the Governor's race it seems cer 'ain that r. Cooper has won out easily on the first ballot. The returns in this race are not as complete as in the senatorial contest, but at 1 o'clock they were as follows: Bethea, 5,566; Cooper, 33,562; Deschamps, 376; Dun can, 512; McLaurin, 070; Richards, 17,123. Mr. Cooper ,it will be seen, was leading all his competitors by around ten thousand, and had double the next highest candidate, John G. Richards, of Liberty ill, who was on the Blease slate. This means a second race be tween Garrison and Harris. The vote for Railroad Commission er was as follows: Arnold 12,659, Mce Laughlin, 5,332, Richardson 12,338, Smith 12,427, and Vowell, 4,237. A second race must be had but later re turns will have to show the candi dlates to make it. Congress Reports from the tmreoodional race were extremely fragmentary but seat tering returns indicated that in the second district Byrnes had been re elected; in the Third district, figures received show Aiken slightly ahead but reports say Dominick has won out; in the Fourth district there will be a second race between Nichols and Bomar; in the Seventh district, Lever appears to have won out on the first hallot against three comnpetitors. Charleston lave a nsajority of over '.100 votes against Bleas.
