Three of the crew were killed by the explosion of the torpedo. No fewer than four torpedoes were discharged b~y the submarine. The ves sel was maneuveredl so audroitly, how ever, that three of them missed their mark. At daybreak the vessel was still afloat, but well (Iowa by the head.
