The program was a rservice one, and was made quite cresting by the leader, Miss Jes "Curtis. The topic entitled: "So Legislation Regarding Public gith." Mrs. Cain rend the Bible on "Our Lord and Disease." Lit Corbett recited, "_..-f(tBf.to sh Daisy Corbett recited "Missions 21 Minding." The monthly bulletin s presented by Miss Lucile Ged hgs. She wore a hood madeof bul tin papers, and had these also pin about her. She read impressive the facts contained therein. The loving ladies garbed as trained prees readconsecutively: Mrs. Alex eytholds told of health legislation 'Korea, and conditions existing here that can be touched only by duc'ating, and sure you cannot tench Ii ol head anything, the education f the children is the only hope. We vho have the light have a respon ibility that we must not shirk. Mrs. lph Reynolds told of the oppor tunieles and needs of medical mis a|ions in Korea. One of our most ur gent needs is more physicians and trained nurses who will minister to the 'sick bodies of the Koreans and thereby lead them to the great phy sician for healing of their souls. Surely there are gifted and conscerat d physicians and nurses among our churches in the South who are will ing to give their lives to such a noble ,vork. Miss Ruth Jones' article, "The South's Campaign Against Disease," tells us that the South has enlisted with enthusiasm and deAermination in the war upon preventable disease. Of the 600,000 persons who (lie in the United States of preventable disease, one-third are in the South. Dr. Wil liam Osler says of people in general "they just naturally want to swallow medicine." There is no public in terest so great as public health. Dis ease is our economic liability, a social scourge, a moral waste. Social re r :ponsibility is nowhere greater than in the crusades for the banishment ;:'ind prevention of diseaise and in the stimulation of all activities that will bring, maintain, and promote the health of all the people. The leaflet, "Needed Legislation Regarding Pub .lie Health," was given in the form of a quiz, everybody giving their views upon this great question. Great progress on the new bric school house marks the beautiful sur shine days. The Jordanites are- looking forwar with pride to the time when Jorda will have a school house which wi be a credit to any community. Everyone is looking forward to th barbecue and hot supper .Friday nigh March 16th, in the store buildin formerly occupied by Mr. C. 1' Sprott. The supper is being give by the Ladies' Home Demonstratio Club for the purpose of equiping kitchen in the new school house. Minutes of the Home iemonstratic Club. The first meeting of the Jorda Home Demonstration Club for th year 1917 was held in the scho< house, Jordan, S. C., February 2 1917, at four P. M. The meeting was called to ordt by the President, Mrs. C. F. Rawlir son. After singing of the son "America" and repeating the Clu Prayer,, the roll was called by th Secretary, Mrs. C. H. Cousar, an there was a large number preser and one new member, Miss Lorain Thompson. As this was the first meeting c the new year, election of officers wi then in order. The president the asked Miss Richardson to take charg of the meeting. The oflicers ths were elected for the ensuing year ar as follows, President Mrs. 11. C. Cousar.
