It was resolv'ed to institute concerts for animals for the purpose of observ ing the effects of music upon them. The results of the observations made established the fact that disconnected tones on stringed instruments treated no effect upon horses beyond causing some of the animals to manifest signs of impatience, but when a melody was played the horses turned toward the players, pricked up their ears and showed plainly the pleasure they expe rienced.
