FORl SALE BY Overshadowing the Rothschilds One hundred years ago the Roths childs were the only great interna tional bankers. They were able to finance the need of nations, but the money they loaned was chiefly the money representing their colossal fam ily fortune. Today there are a dozen great international banking firms, each of which Is larger than the Rothschilds were a century ago and whose aggre gate loaning power reaches an amount which. would then have been almost in conceivable. There are now a thou sand banks where then there was one, each representing the concentrated loaning power of thousands of people. They offer vast credit because the funds of the people, loaned through them, reach vast sums.-S. W. Straus in National 'Magazine. What They Knew of Luther. In a written test (whether in a college for young men or women is immaterial) the ques tion was asked, "What was the secret of Luther's success as a .reformer?' The question was left unanswered by the majority of the class. Some frank ly avowed they did not know who Lu ther was. Some confounded the name with that of Luther Burbank. HOW CHRONGIC COUGHS Are Being Cured by VNol. Did you ever cough for a month? Then just think how distressing it must be to have a cough hang on for three months. Mrs. Maria Primrose, of 87 Newell Street, Brooklyn, N. Y., says: "I had a very heavy cold which settled into chronic cough, which kept me awake nights for fully three months, and felt tired all the time because my rest was broken so much. The effect of ntking your cod liver and Iron rem edy, Vinol, Is that my cough Is gone. I can now get a good night's rest, and I feel much stronger in every way." It Is the combined action of the medicinal elements, cods' livers, aided by the blood-makring and s'trength creating properties of tonic Iron which makes Vinol so efficient In curing chronic coughs, colds and bronchitis -at the same time building up the -weakened, rim-down system. PEURIFOY, )F COLLETON, CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS. [PoliLical Advertisement.] As Solicitor of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, John H. Peurifoy as made an'able and fearless officer, and if the faithful and hon st discharge of duty warrants promotion, then he is deserving of 3e high office to which he aspires. His splendid character, his varied experience, and his unques oned ability, render him eminently fitted for the important and asponsible duties of a Congressman. Mr. Peurifoy remembers well his early days on the farm, and now deeply-interested in farming. If elected, the farmers can est assured that they have as their representative a man who will ot subordinate their interests, but one who will do all in his power make brighter and better the rural life of his District. He believes that the possibilities of this District are unbound d, that her soil is second to none in fertility, and that, with proper rainage and development, the dream of South Carolina's greatest tatesmen can be realized; and our section become the garden spot f the world. SOLICITOR JOHN H. PEURIFOY. Mr. Peurifoy advocates the establishment of more Federal ex ,eriment stations in the South, and especially in the First Con ressional District and by this method he would seek to bring to he farmers of this section the same aid which has been given by he National Government to theLarmers of the West. He would *ecommend that the Government send an expert to each county in he District to study soil and climate conditions in order that seeds night be suggested, and would further recommend that a liberal upply of the best seeds be furnished the farmers. While drainage is of prime importance to this District, and chile Mr. Peurifoy would endeavor to promote it, yet it should not e forgotten that a wider development is possible for the dry lands* which we already have. Mr. Peurifoy favors turther aid from the Government in the ulding of roads and would work with this end in view. He is the logical man for the office, and on account of his ex perience, character, and ability, is best qualified to represent all he people. badr bagan Afe-he er'si Hrmfres ah hae ounIlnifre hieaes nighbty or hu her hdmd badet fv yeargain tofter hreeer'si iscregunlay hatn podmuced lestantit buhel thle ofis thead he famedits ItH is nologeanuulfr uspgreaprs from farder nwarou styes benieome salcodrsionsisTel for percie ar otto thre to bie earse, od th og deepfud o seeglaryrasing wide mduch and narrow styes vale of thearantd sapacity.
