Representatiye Des-' Champs introduced a bill look> prevention of graft in the dir -. and from past observation he well have introduced a bill to mankind from breathing. W : our well meaning representativ. as well realize that this is not &' miracles.. Representative Bradham told us he made a speech advocating a bill requir ing sheriffs to keep blood hounds, and that if he had. been provided with bood hounds when he was sheriff the notoiious Bill Dixon would not have escaped. But then, if the dog--the blood hounds are provided. will that always insuresheritf's doing their duty? We doubt it. Representative Green is kept very busy, we imagine, tho' we have heard nothing from him. He is a member of the dispensary comnmittee, and this com mittee has been overnhelmed with a whole lot of bills: some to wipe out the sale of liquor entirely; some to have county control, others for license, and still others, and' these with the ap-, proval of the powers that be, osten sibly, "to tighten up the screws of the lspensary,?' but in reality to give, the rafters a longer lease of power. Our friend Green has his hands full, and he will have so much liquor argument to ontact with, that it will not surprise us -That's what a prominent druggist said of Scott's Emulsion a s ho rt time ago- Asarhule we don't use ormfetemoials in addressing the public,' but the above remark an d s i mi il a r expressions are made so often in Connec tion with Scott's Emulsion that they are worthy of occasional n o t e . From infancy to old age Scott's Emulsion offers a reliable means of remedying im proper and weak develop ment, restoring lost flesh in the least to hear of his getting very full. We learn that Senator Davis is op posed to making provisions for. the issue of bonds for court house purposes, and it was very gratifyinga to us, but we expected as much, as he is a bIsi ness man. Solicitor Wilson returned to Colmm bia last Monday night to his post in the engrossing department. Mr. DesChamps has introduced another bill to provide registers for the public schools of this State. We were always under the impression that such was the law now. if not in words. in that portion of the Superintendent's thities which imply the furnishinm of registers for the publie schools. How ever. not having seen the text of Mr. DesChamp's bill, we are not in position to discuss it, and we hope 'our friend will kindly furnish THE TIMES with - - ential 1 435, vthe n the it is etails. d after - , a um. No Bonds for Jones Eithe.2 ditor Thie Manning Times: In the issue of the 10th inst., you have an editorial in. regard to the meeting of the legislative delegation of Clarendon, and their purpose for meeting. We have read carefully your editorial in reference to the bonding of the county for the building of a new court house, and without hesitation whatever n the matter, we endorse youlr every utterance in regard to the same. The present court house is g6od enough, and "the people of Clarendon can very well do with the present court house until they see where they are going to and with the change in the property assoment." The tax payers of Clarendon are not as yet suficiently flushed with riches at this time to back en~nt to the building . of a county court house costing only thirty thousand dollars as has 'een sgested. 'The present so called temple of justae is sufficiently good and oryiental to protect the rich and mnflueLuial and to punish and oppress the poor and friendless: Gs:0. R. JONES.
