C. jheumatism Those whohave ever felt its keen, cutting pains, or witnessed the intense suffering of others, know that Rheumatism is torture, and that it is right ly called "The King of Pain." All do notsufferalike. Some are suddenly seized with the most excrucia ting pains, and it seems every muscle and joint in the body was being torn asunder. Others feel only occasional slight pains for weeks or months, when a sudden change in the weather or exposure to damp, chilly winds or night air brings on a fierce attack, lasting for days perhaps, and leaving the pa tient with a weakened constitution or crippled and deformed for all time. An acid, polluted condition of the blood is the cause of every form and variety of Rheumatism, Muscular, Articular, Acute, Chronic, Inflammatory and Sciatic, and the blood must be purged and purified before there is an endto your aches and pains. External applications, the use of linimentsand plasters, do much toward temporary relief, but such treatment does not reach the real cause or cleanse the diseased blood; but S. S. S., the greatest of all bloodpurifiers and tonics, does cure Rheumati by andougs and neutraliz ing the poisonous acids and building up the weak- and sluggish blood. a It is safe andreliablein allformsof Rheumatism. Itmakes the old acid blood rich, and the pain-tortured mus cles and joints are relieved, the shattered nerves are made strong, and the entire system is invigoratedand toned up by the use of this great vegetable remedy. The Stomach in Always Busy Form ing Deadly Substanceft. The body is a factory of poisons. If these poisons. which are constantly being produced in large quantities in the body, are imperfectly removed or are produced in too great quantity as the result of overfeeding. the fluids which surround the brain cells and all the living tissues are contaminated with poisonous substances which as j;yxiate and paralyze the cellsrand so interfere with their activity. This fact explains in part at least the stupidity which is a cowmon after dinner expe rience with many. persons. When food is retained in the stom ach beyond. the normal time,:either be cause of its Indigestibility, the taking of too large a quantity of it or a crip pied state of the stomach, these changes are certain to take place. This fact explains a very large share of the myriad symptoms which afflict the chronic dyspeptic. The giddiness, the tingling sensations, the confusion of - thought and even partial insensibility which are not infrequently observed a few irours after meals in chronic dye peptics are due to this cause. Here is the explanation of the irascibility, the despondency, the pessimam,- the-Inde cision and various other forms of men tal perversity and even moral deprav ity which are not infrequently associ ated with certain forms of gastro-in testinal disturbances.-London Family Doctor. They Kept a Bible For Luck. At Sycamore, Ill., a well known busi ness firm makes it a practice to keep a Bible in the safe. The custom was commenced a long time ago, and the big steel box is never locked up unless it contains the book. It is.kept in the money drawer of the safe. It is found necessary to removeit occasionally, but It is always carefully replaced. The men who adopted this queer practice when they commenced busi ness years ago have little to say in ex planation. In all their business life their safe or store has never been rob bed or entered. They have had a con tinuous good business and are among the most successful business houses of t the town. All of the members of the 0 firm- attend the churches of the town, but all are liberal In their religious views, and the prevailing belief in the town is that Holy Writ Is kept in'the safe principally for good luck.-Chi cago Tribune. For many years it has been supposed that Catarrh of the Stomach caused Indigestion and dyspepsia, but the truth Is exactly the. opposite. Indigestion causes catarrh. Re peated attacks of indigestion inflames the mucous membranes lining the stomach and exposes the nerves of the stomach, thus caus ing the glands to secrete mucin instead of the juices of natural digestion. This is called Catarrh of the Stomach.
