Indigestion Causes Catarrh of the Stomach. For many years it has been supposed that Catarrh of the Stomach caused indigestion and dyspepsia, but the truth is exactly the opposite. Indigestion causes catarrh. Re peated attacks of indigestion inflames the mucous membranes lining the stomach and exposes the nerves of the stomach, thus caus ing the glands to secrete mucin instead of the juices of natural digestion. This Is called Catarrhof the Stomach. Kodol Dyspepsia Cure relieves all inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the stomach, protects the nerves. and cures bad breath, sour risings, a sense of fullness after eating, indigestion, dyspepsia and all stomach troubles. I promise not to buy. drink, sell or give Intoxicating liquors while I live: From bad companions '11 refrain And never take God-s name in vain." REMINISCENCES OF FRANCIS WILLARD. "There will never be another like her," we say and sigh, think ing of Francis Willard. Can this be true? And if so, why? Will it be because the world does not need another such as she was or because God is unable to make her counterpart? Will it not be, rather, because some gracious woman shall refuse to let Him into her deepest heart, who can mould any life after the fashion of His will' For it was not Miss Willards national gifts and gra ces, nor her intellectual acumen that made her what she was. It was something infinitely higher than these. That rare smile! Who that has seen it will ever I forget it: That calm brow! Those holy eyes! What peace and powers sat there serene! Yet neither her smile nor her beauty made her what she was. Rather she made them what they were. Beyond all these, I within she dwelt holding con verse with One constant Great never for a moment forgotten. With Him she took council. What i He bade she did, where He led ~ she followed counting not her i life dear unto herself if she Smight but rescue those for whom : He gave His life. Seeing her men saw Christ, and loving her i they loved Him--though often : unconsciously-who had made Sher what she was. I think we realize more fully as the Sdays go by that Miss Willard :was the providential woman, the Sdivinely ordained woman for the :time to which she came. We Srecognize the motherliness-of her character as we see him ready Sshe was to adopt everything :which might tell for the broad Sening of woman's capabilities :even though not directly in line Sof the W. C. T. U. We see her stamp of tireless effort and Sindustry on all of the W. C. T. :U., as they never stop, never Stire. As we look over the wlll :of the W. C. T. U. we understand more perfectly her call to womn :anliness and we see more clearly jthe answer imprinted by each :responding name. Perhaps no woman ever had more personal :influence than did Francis W11 a lard. Her voice was clear and sweet and her gentle womanly ways were so charming that no :beauty of person seemed want b ing. While Miss Willard called out the noblest aspirations in others, she was herself the humblest and most sympathetic of comrades. e Dispensarr Not Wanted. It was with pleasure that I Sread your editorial in The Chris tian Advocate captioned, "South Carolina and Temperance," Cs. e pecially your deliverance on the tyrannical and undemocratic feature of -the Dispensary Law. It is to be hoped that this matte~ will be ventilated until a senti ment will obtain in South Caro lina which will demand a change in the law by the General Assem S bly now soon to convene, giving the citizens of a municipality on1 which a dispensary has been fas tened the right to say by their r votes that it shall go if they d want it gone as well as the right to say it shall remain if a major ity want it to remain. Here in our little town some y months ago, 69 out of 76 of the qualified electors signed a peti tion addressed to the members of the State Board of Control. praying the removal of the dis pensary here upon the ground principally that its presence was i. a menace to the morals of the community, was injurious to the business interests of the town, an because the drinking of whiskey by our peoplehad "dan , gerously increased since the es tablishment of that institution," _and for other potent reasons, -with the result that the petition was turned down. the ground as Cures Eczema. It is becoming well known that one of the easiest things in the world to be done is to locate a dispensary in a town, and one of the impossible things to do un der the present law as it now stands is to close up a dispensary when once fastened upon a muni cipality, it matters not if ev ery man, woman and child in the town asks for its removal. Such a law is undemocratic and tyrannical and should not longer be tolerated by a people who claim to be freemen and who believe in the rule of the majority. Let the matter be agitated until the law is amended as it ought to be. B. W. C. Is It Rigth? Mr. John W. Kirton, in the Presbyterian Banner, asks the following pertinent questions: Is it right to do wrong and ex pect wrong to produce right? Is it right to derive a revenue out of a system which demora lizes and degrades the people? Is it right to license a man to make paupers and criminals, and then tax sober and virtuous peo ple to pay rates to keep them? Is it right to license a man to sell drink which will make peo ple drunk. and then fine men and women for getting drunk? Is it right for people to wish the temperance cause success and at the same time continue to drink and support the liquor trafficy Is it right to expect God to belp Christian efforts when these afforts are tainted with the mon ey which comes from the ruin of souls? Is it right for men to ask God to "Give us this day out daily bread" and then support the sys tem that licenses men to destroy the good grain by converting it into body and soul destroying drinksl' Is it right for men to profess and call themselves Christians to pray "Lead us not into tempta tion" and then needlessly expose themselves to the influence of drinks which have tempted and ruined thousands? 'Is it right to ask these ques tions, and if so what answer can each reader give to them? CASTOR IA For infants and Children.
