These gentlemen expressed themselves high ly pleased with the State convict man agement on the Scarborough farm, and delighted with the country generally. Fox River Butter and Full Cream Et Cheese on ice at Manning Grocery Co. Frank C. Lechner, Cashier of Bank of Tim monsville, Has Mysteriously Disappeared. Timmonsville. Aug. 31.-Some two weeks ago Mr. Frank C. Lechner, for a number of years the cashier of the Bank of Timmonsville, secured leave of absence for several days to visit Griffin, Ga., where he has agricultu- Le ral interests, and where his wife and daughter are spending the summer. Mr. Lechner was to have been absent for not longer than four ornfve days, but his absence has been prolonged Cc and no one knows where he is. His Al family in Griffin have heard nothing H from him nor have the bank direc tors. A card written from Savanah H was received several days after his departure, saying that he had been C< left and would return a- day later, but he has not turned up. There is much mystery connected with the be incident. One suggestion is to the pi effect that Mr. Lechner may have to taken siek and stopped some where to recover. This is not credited for the reason that in such an instance he would have notified his home. Some think that he may have lost tri his mind and wandered off. While 2 he has always been regarded as a liv very eccentric man he has never :le showen any signs of insanity. No 2 one believes that the cashier left be- fer cause of any crookedness in the S1t bank. The directors have not had 2 an opportunity to carefully examine st, the books, but have found the cash all right. Something like $350 in connection with collections is short. In one instance a draft on a buisi ness man here was paid by that gen- uc tleman, but the amount not for- op warded to the bank making the so draft. An expert will examine the th books in a few days and then the j condition will be known. Mr. Lech- p nei has stood high with the business at men of the town and no little sorrow wa is felt over his disappearance. bi Mr. -Raymond C.
