The teachers' summer school opened up last Monday. Prof. C. L. Legge,prin cipal of Bennietts school, Charleston, is in charge, with Miss Fannie McCants of Columbia City Schools as assistant. The first days enrollment numbered ten teachers, which was very good consid ing the short notice and the inclement weather. by next week the attendance will be large. At her home, near Brewington 3hurh. on Black river, in Clarendon younty,' on the 28th of June, 1901. Mrs.A iargaret A. Bagnal peacefully fell on leep, in the 75th year of her age. Mrs. Bagnal belonged to a family widely known and respected. Her par-' ants were Thomas and Frances Burgess ( f that section. In girlhood she gave vidence of piety and united with the Brewington Presbyterian church just ( fter her fifteenth birthday. For nearly. ixty years she retained her member hip there, and at her death she had been longer in connection with that hurh than any other member. Mrs. Bagnal's Christianity was of a eely spiritual and at the same time of a deeply practical character. She was often in prayer and in the reading of the Word. Her Bible showed con tant use and her life became an epis tle, known and read of -all that she walked with God. Through long years her place in church and Sabbath-school was rarely vacant, and for many months, in the midst of declining strength, she perse vered in attending public worship. Loving hands were always ready to as sist her from her buggy into the house, of God. nA great portion of-her life was spent iteaching. Many persons now past middle age remember her as their first instructor, both in the day and the Sab bath-school. She married Isaac Bag nal on April 1st, 1863.
