Levi left last Saturday night for Philadelphia. -Mrs. Sarah Hudnal and Miss Gertrude Nicholson, of Florila, are in Manning, vis iting the family of Mr. J. T. Stukes. -Rev.W.S. Stokes, pastor of the Manning Methodist church last year, left last Monday for Fairfield circuit, his work for the next year. -Mr. Thos. W. Briggs, who has been in Columbia for the past eight years, is danger ously ill at his brother's, Dr. A. J. Briggs, in Summerton. -Mr. R. H. Davis. who is confined to his room from the effects of a pistol shot wound, as reported in last week's Tinms, is getting on so well that he is expected to be out in a few days. -Mr. B. S. Dinkins, accompanied by his wife, arrived in Manning this afternoon, where they expect to spend the holidays, after which they will go to Ardmore, I. T., Mr. Dinkins's adopted home. -We regret exceedingly to learn of the extreme illness of Mrs. Henry M. Mood at her home in Sunimerton. Mrs. C. E. Stubbs, her daughter, and Dr. Mood, her son, were summoned to her bedside by tel egram this mornuing.-Sater Freeman, Dc. 15. -We clip the following from the Ardmore (Ind. Ter.) Courier of last week: "B. S. Din kins, Esq., of the Ardmore bar, left this morning for his old home in Manning, South Carolina, to spend the holidays. We wish him a safe trip and a pleasant vis it. He will return home about the 1st of January, accompanied by his wife." A nice line of fancy lamps at Rigby's. Mr. S. J. Bowman is having his residence enlarged. Big lot loaded shells, at B. A. Johnson's. County Treasurer Bowman recived official notice yesterday of the extension of the taxes. Wheelbarrows, doll buggies and wagons, at Sires & Chandler's furniture store. There is not a vacant dwelling house in the town of Manning, and houses are in great demand. Fresh mountain butter, just received, on ly 25 cents, at B. A. Johnson's. Mr. Octave McRoy is building a neat dwelling on the Legg lot, a portion of which he has recently bought. Try Johnson's Patent flour, best. on the market. Traveling men say that this portion of the State is in a much better financial con dition than the upper portion. Granulated Sugar, 4 pounds for 25 cents, at Kali.ky's. The time was out yesterday for a license for the seed cotton traffic. Any and every body can buy seed cotton now without a li cense. Go'to Brockinton's drug store for pure drugs and medicines. Rev. W. E. Barre will preach at Bethle hem next Saturday, 3:30 p. m.; at Oak Grove Sunday, 11 a. m.; and at Live Oak, 3:30 p. m. Call at W. H. Young's for the best sewing machine in the market. The lawyers interested in the Wells will case are preparing their briefs for the Su preme Court, where the final argument will take place. Call early if you wish to get one of these chairs for a handsome and valuable present. Rev. H. M. Mood, the new pastor of the Manning Methodist church, will preach in the church next Sunday morning. Mr. Mood has twice ibefore served this church, and his appointment here is very gratifying to the Methodists. The January salesday bids fair to be one of the busiest that this county has had for a number of years. The sheriff will sell, un der a decree of the court, twenty-six tracts, of land, besides other property.
