' " "" i Tuesday, July 11, 191 o. 4 ? -? - I I The Herald and News prints in this issue some personal and other local madter on some of the pages other than page 8. This matter was held ever from the last paper because we could not get it in type. But then we try to make every page of the paper of vital interest to all of our readers. We make it a rule not to make ex I cuses, but for the last week we have been, doing just as we could and with "very little system or order or even t with the knowledge of what we would try to do next. And we have not yet made any permanent arrangements for a linotype operator. Last week we had Mr. J. T. Burrows for a day and a Lalf and James Aull for about the same time and this week we had Miss Taylor for a few hours, and Mrs. Harman, who learned the machine in ; cur office, is now handling the board : for a day or two, but she has a permanent position with the State as I had the others we mentioned either with the State or some where else, < We hope to get an operator soon, but < when we do we want a good one. You : can't go out and pick them up just . like you can a person to measure calico. We mention this now to ask our friends who have been kind enough to give us business to bear 1 "witn us just a little longer. We give considerable space in this 1 issue to "what the county candidates * iha-d to say at Jolly Street at the open- Ing meeting. The report is made by flir. T. E. Wicker and is fair and impartial as all the reports in The Her- 1 aid and News must be. Mr. John K.
