"Washington, July o.?General Car-' 1 A -1-1 +n?/v r-? e ranza s repiy 10 ine ium sent him by the United States government was delivered to the state department early today by a Mexican mbassy attache. 'As soon as a translation of the Spanish text could be made it was sent to the White House. Until Sec-1 retary Lansing and President Wilson I "have had an opportunity to confer there will be no formal comment, but some state department officials did not attempt to conceal the fact that Via,. r*nneir??ror? the "note most SatiS factory and likely to remove all danger of war. Brief and free from all superfluous language of diplomacy, the communication points to the release of the American troopers captured at Carrizal as a proof of the Mexican government's sincere desire to avoid a conflict; states as the outstanding issue the reasonable belief of the United States that the insecurity of its frontier is a, source of difficulty and on the other hand the belief of the Mexican government that the presence of American troops in Mexico is a trespass on that country's sovereignty and the immediate cause of trouble. Accepts Mediation Principle. In offering to consider in a "quick and practical way" the remedies which should be applied, the note gives notice that Mexico has accepted in principle Latin American offers of mediation, ;and awaits information that the Unired States is disposed to accept mediation or still is of the belief that the same results may be attained by direct negotiation. Assurances are given that in the meantime the de facto government will employ every effort to avoid a recurrence of incidents which would complicate and aggravate the situation, and the hope is expressed that the United States will endeavor to liave its military and civil authorities do likewise. This is the reply of CarTanza to the demands of the United States for a statement of his intentions. One Question Evaded. A specific response to the question of whether he stands upon the instructions to Gen. Trevino to attack American troops moving other than northward is evaded and there is no mention of the reprimand administered by Secretarv Lansing in his note of June 20 on account of the of- j fensive insinuations and language \ contained in Carranza's last communication demanding recall of the American troops. Although the note is signed by Gem Aguilar, foreign minister, officials of j the Mexican embassy believe it was dictated bV Gen. Carranza himself. ? A TWICE TOLD TALE ! One of Interest to Our Readers. Good news bears repeating, and ? when it is confirmed after a long lapse of time, even if we hesitated to believe it at first hearing, we feel secure in accepting its truth now. The following experience of a Newberry woman is confirmed after five years. > Mrs. J. B. Amick, 1130 Sum me1* -St., iVewberry, says: "I had backache and fjains in my head. I was dizzy and nervous and spots often floated before my eyes. The kidney secretions were irregular in passage and I knew my kidneys were out of order. Doan's Kidney Pills soon made me feel better in every way and my kidneys became normal." (Statement given iMarch 23, 1911.) On November 20, 1914, Mrs. Amick said: "Whenever I have a return of kidney trouble, due to a cold settling on my kidneys, I use Doan's Kidney Pills and they give me prompt re 11C1. 50c, at all dealers.
