And then it is short. >?o reason why i the two governments should not get i I together* in peace. I m The State campaign is moving aiong slowly but without much enthusiasm and yet strange to say the crowds at practically all the meetings have been rather unusually large. We hope it means the people are thinking and that means that they will do their own voting and refuse to be led about try factional strife. I It looks now that war with Mexico will be averted, but tliat does not 6top the mobilization of troops. Somehow we have felt all along that the matter would be settled without war. Mr. Woodrow Wilson is a big man and he is moving in such a way as to avoid war if it is possible so to do. We sincerely hope he may be able to do it. Our baby boy has joined the army and we are -without a linotype operator. We were getting on very nicely and this break in our arrangements is a very severe blow, but we hope it will come out all right. We will do the best we can,, but it has disar ranged the office neip ana win aeioy ns in getting out some work until we can make new arrangements. The county campaign opens today at "Jolly Street. Let us all do what we can to make it a pleasant and happy campaign and let each one of tlie aspirants go before the people on his own merits and keep out of it the drawing nf factional lines. It does not ! help the efficiency of the service to / # vote for men simply because they are going to vote for some one else than the one we are going to support for any particular office. I This is a good time to drag the roads. The rains have made the soil ( fine for such work. It will pay to drag tne roaas. mawm PROGRAM OF THE NEWBFRRY j COUNTY S. S.
