' THE SOCIAL HIGHWAYMAN* AT OPEBA HOUSE, JUNE 20 i ___ j J The story of "The Social Highway- j i man" is that of Curtis Jaffray, whose < hoy ideal is Claude DuVal, who stole' J from the rich to give to the poor. Cur- 1 tis was the offspring of a mesalliance which resulted in his being brought up in such bitter poverty that his mother, before his birth, was driven j to thievery to obtain food. When | Curtis reached .the age of twelve the- ' parents were horrified at the discovery that he had inherited through pre-! natal influences a tendency to steal.; How in later years, when he inherited j the title and astates of his grand- 1 father, the fashionable stratum cf so- ciety is startled by a series of daring * thefts, his epcial secretary kills the j Countess Rcssi. 3:is wife, who deserted ' him in former, years, and later .kills himself, declaring i:i his dying words that he committed the mystifying thefts, is all excellently portrayed in ; this melodrama in which is interi spersed one of the sweetest romances j e.er filmed. It is a sociological play;, different from the rest and one that is j bound to please. To be shown at the. Opera House, Tuesday, June 20. - I iBTSaarw ^ Mistaken Identity. Abbeville Press and Banner.
