The meetings were in response to a call issued by Dr. Wade I Stack'aouse, president of the South ^ (Carolina division of the Southern [fr^Totton congress. All the meetings I were largely auenaeu. [ Tiie conviction that the acreage in . cotton for 1915 must be materially reduced seems to be almost unanimous. All the meetings reported to The State took a definite stand for reduction. Others went into possibilities of the proposed system W without taking action. The buy-a-fo-ale movement was in-; L dorsed and those who have joined in j & the patriotic effort were thanked by j resolutions in some instances. The Lexington body passed a reso- : ^^lution calling on its members to urge the use of cotton bags for sIMnping ?ind to favor business houses using: ^Lycotton for making the covering for V their goods. iVTanv other oossfbilities were can- i vassed and the wishes of the people for salvation in this crisis were definitely ascertained. R.
