EN(iI NEMAN DIES. Southern Kaihvay Train Wrecked Near Easiey?Engineer Pinned I'nder the Tender. Easiey. Oct. 27.?Southbound passenger train No. 11 of ill Southern railway was derailed one mile west of here this af.ernoon at 4 o'clock. Ben. .J. Yoyle, engineer, was instantly kill d and several others badly cut and bruised. Tin.- exact cause of the wreck is not known, but it is believed that i" was caused by spreading rails. The engine left the track first and ran for several hundr d yards on t.-e ties when it tumbled over against the deep embankment. Whr?n tli a tho ctrilfk the bank it was torn off ar.d this pulled th engineer from his seat and pinned him beneath the tender. Hearing the crash the fireman laid flat on his box, thus allowing the framework to pass over his body. The baggage coach was also hurled into the bank, but th other cars on the train, though all were derailed remained in o-n nnrio-Iit nncifinr: Railroad surgeons were summoned immediately and the wounds of the patients were dress, d. The body of Engineer Voyle is being embalmed and will be shipped to his home in Atlanta as soon as the wreck is cleared. This will t>3 after midnight and a steady downpour of rain makes the work slow. The debris to be moved is in a deep cut. ! The list of injured: Ben J. Voyle, engineer, Atlanta, instantly killed: C. ; C. Kelly, fireman, Walhalla, painfully, nurt about head; Jack Holt, express agent, Atlanta, hip badly hurt; 0. B. Goodlett, postal clerk. Greenville, painfully bruised; Lee Leathers, flagman, Westminister, hurt about body; , Fred Year wood, newsboy, Atlanta, shoulder bruised. The train was in charge of Capt. Frank Marshall, who ; was unhurt. ' The engineer was unmarried. j. ~ ? Some Y. & Am Items. ( It is a good thing there is more than one Jim Brown. If there wasn't, "our' Jim would be in a bad fix. One Jim Brown was arrested in Union last week on the charge of rob- j bery and another Jim Brown was carried to a hospital in Columbia this week with his eyes gouged out. In speaking of tlie death of Mr. D. R. Large floral tributes, sent from tnis city by tiie school children and also ' by the King's Daughters showed in some degree the esteem in which he was held here." / Just about the time you heard of the marriage of the Newberry representative of the National Biscuit comVioarH nf tho marriflO'P of J V/U "V,U4 VA v^-. ?O ~ Greenville representative of the same concern. It has a little way all its own in divid-j ing a word and doing other stunts. Bui ! tht-rp is one thins: that can t be laid on the linotype and that is changing j a boy baby to a girl baby.
