e , ? PLAN SETTLE MILEAGE PROBLEM.; Interstate Commerce Commission .May | f'ocA?Pofifum Haw Ih>Aii Filed. Columbia State, 28th. * The mileage book situation in South Carolina will be carried before the interstate commerce commission for a hearing, according to an announce- j ment yesterday by members of the railroad commission. The case will be presented by the railroad commission ^ and the citizens of the State will be represented in the matter by Attorney i General Lyon. Several citizens of the State held v a> conference with the railroad commission recently when it was ruled that the South Carolina commission has no jurisdiction in the matter. Chairman Caughman, of the commission said that no right was given to j force one railway to credit another I railway. The members of the commission yesterday refused to give out the petition j that lias been filed with the interstate j />Ammissinn Jfihn G Rich- I . fcrds, Jr., said that the petition should be given to the public. G. McDuffie Hampton said that a majority of the members had voted to withhold th? petition. Just why the paper was not given out was not explained by the commission. At the last session of the general assembly a measure was passed requiring the railways to "pull" mileage on the trains. Following this action, the railways stopped selling interchangeable mileage books for intrastate travel. Separate mileage books ;were provided by the various roads for travel within the State. The interchangeable books are good only for an j interstate trip. BOARD FOR SPEAKER'S GAVEL. {'lark's M'hacklngs During Last Session 3Iade Wreck of Old One.
