Mr. Wheeler's successor will be named by the State board of educa tion. Mr. Wheeler has made a faithful of er. He bas been conscientlous in the discharge of his duties, and he has 11hown fine, ability in the work. His resignation is a loss to the schools of the county. In the superintendency of the Pros perity schools Mr. Wheeler will be assisted by the same cdrps of teach ..res who have- been associated with Prof. Geo. D. Brown, whom Mr Wheel er succeeds.r They are: Prof. J. M. Bedenbaugh, Mrs. M. C. Cormbia, Aug. 3.--Following the t increase in capitalization of the Parker Mills company to $15,000,QOO from $10,000,000, propositions have been submitted -to the stockholders of at least four cotton manufacturing corporations, not now in the Parker merger, looking to the inclusion" of these poncerns in the combination. The attention of the residents of the Town of Newberry is called to Section j94 of the Revised Ordinances of the Town, which is as follows: I"Sec. 94. Owners and occupants of each residence in the town shall pro. vide his or their premises with suit able outbuildings, as privies, and keep the same clean and in good conditina, removing -the deposits at least on'w a week. To this end they are 'required to keep such places supplied -with a box or 'some vessel containing dry earth, charcoal, lime or ashes, and use' the same in connection with the use of such pla.e3s. That all such privies shall be erected at, least ten fedc fromn .any ditch used as a drain age, and at -least fifteen feet from. any street. That no slops, rubbish, or oth er refuse or filthy water shall be plac ed or thrown under such privies, and the constructing or miaintaining of a privy vault or receptacle is hereby prohibited. All privies now within the corporate limi'ts of the town which do not conform with this rule shall forth with be changed by the owner to con form with said rule. All public privies connected with places of business shall ,comply with the same rules as, those of residences. Any person or persons not complying with any of the provisions of this rule, shall, on 'onviction, be punished by a fine of not. less than ($1) one dollar nor more than ($14~) ten dollars o-' by imprison ment not less than one (1) day nor more than ten (10) days, in addition to what expense the board may incur in abating such nuisance."~ The Board of Health has determined to carry out strictly the requirements of above section. At the expiration of ten days from this date any person violating in any manner the above section will be reported to the chief of police for prosecution. The health officer has been instructed' to visit every place in the town for the pur pose of ascertaining any violation of the rule. F. D. Mower, July 27, 1911. Chairman. a Stradivarius, he has attempted orig inal features with the idea of attaining a quality of solo tone not common in ordinary violins and resembling the human voice. This quality has been sought by cutting channels of pecu liar formation. When tested with a tuning fork the violin has responded in a gratifying manner. The violin will be closed today, and Dr. Hallman will devote two or three weeks to staining and polishing it. Dr. Hallman has himself made all the fixtures for the instrument, even to the bench .clasps. When he was a young man Dr. Hall man learned to tune and repair accor deons and cabinet organs, and has made many an organ reed. C., has passed a resolution requesting that the Town Council of the Town of Newberry, S. C., pass the ordinance herinafter set forth, the said Board of Health deem ing the same necessary for the protec tion of the.-health of the residents of the town, therefore, -Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Newberry, S. C., in Council assembled: Sec. 1. That on after the 30th day of September, A. D. 1911, it shall .be' un lawful for any persQn, firm or corpora tion, owner or occupant of any house, dwelling or other building in the Town of Newberry, S. C., in which there .Is in use any urinal, toilet or water clos et, to empty or discharge .any water, waste or deposit from any such urinal, toilet or water closet On any street, or on any lot or gro~und.
