ARAA-PHILATHEA UNION. First State Convention to Be Held in Newberry.-Something of the Movement. The following giving the origin, plans and purposes of the Baraea Philathea movement, the first annual oonvention of the South Carolina union of which will be held in New berry, will be read with interest. This is a very important movement and Newberry wil have the distine tion of entertaining the first annual convention of the organization in this city. The Call and Purpose of the Con vention. The call of the Convention is to the young men and women of the State for more conseecrated service to the Master in carrying on the great work of gathering the men and women, boys and girls, into the Sunday school, and ultimately into! the Kingdom of God. The purpose of the Convention is to meet and greet each other; speak words of eneouragemenet and eheer; exchangeideas for mutual benefit and ,enthusiasm, and to get a vision of the great opportunities offered' and the responsibilities that rest upon us individually as representatives of ,(ne of the greatest Sunday School Movements of modern times. Those Invited. . Each and every Sunday School Bi ble Class in the State is cordially invited and earnestly urged to send as many delegates as possible; there ia no liinit, and a cordial welcome awaits all whi will go. Enterfainment. Each delegate is requested' to send his or her name to S. S. Cunning ham, local secretary, Newberry, S. C., at as early a date as -possible stating whether entertainment in a private home or at a hotel is pre ferred. Committees will meeet all del egates at the station and conduct them to the Chamber of Commerce where they will register and be as signed homes. No registration fee will be required'. In order that the representation might not be limited .and at the special request of the state officers, free entertainment will not be furnished; however, special r-ates have been secured by th Enter tainment Committee, and all de'ke gates will be assigned in accordance with their preference. Railroad Rates. The railroads will give special rates on the certificate plan; that is, full fare will be charged going, your local agent issuing you a cer tificate which you will deposit with Mr. S. S. Cunningham, local seere- L tary, immediately upon arrival at ,f N~ewberry. This eertifieste will 'be properly signed and returned to you, ~ and when same is presented! to the e agent at Newberry, you will be 'en titled to a rate of one-half regular fae'plus fifty cents. All delegates and members of1 t Bible classes who register with the I secretary of the local committee will be furnished with badges which will e admit them to each session of the j convention. These badges will cost t you nothing, so .don 't leave the head quarters till you have been proper. iy "tagged." Speakers. Mr. Marshall A. Cromer, of Newberry; Dr. E. 0. Watson, of Columbia; Hon. Jos. A. McCullough, of Greenville, and others will take part in the program. . . Reports. Each class represented is expect ed to appoint some one to furnish a condensed report of the class when called upon to do so. Blanks for this purpose can be seured by writing the South Carolina Baraca-Philathea Union Spartanburg, S. C. These re ports constitute one of the most stimulating features of the conven tion, so be sure to have yours ready. Movenit Interdenombna4onail. The Baraca and Phila-thea move ment is interdenominatioAal in ery respeet, many of -the elasses holding the certificate of Recogni tiou from the Adult Department of the Interdenominational Sunday School Association. Registration. Each and every Baraca and Phi lathea class in the State is earnestly requested to register with the South Carolina Baxaea4Philathea Uniont 'Spartanburg, at once. If .you have not already received blanks for this purpose write Mr. M. G. Womaek, secretary, and he will forward them Ito you. Doing this now will save much time and trouble at the con vention. This report made to the State Union does not take the place of the one you are to , give at the convention. Sunset Prayer Service. As the sun is setting Saturday evening, a prayer service will ,be held on the campus of Newberry col lege. A number of five minute talks will be made, and short prayers of fered. This promises to be one of I the most inspiring of all the meet ings. Consecration.
