Allowing one representative to every 190,000 peo ple, there were 316 to spare. If the gMwth of population in the past tea years shall amount to about 80,000, therefore, the State will be ntitled to an eighth representative x Congress, and there will be a gen eral redistricting of the State by the Legislature. If the prediction above quoted shall prove to be sub ctaatially correct, Spartanburg coun ty alone will furnish about on* sixth of the additional population nesessary to give the State another r4presentative in Congress. The o*er 41 counties would very proba ly make up the balance. It is very robable, therefore, that after 1910 th darolina will not only have nother representative in Congress, that the present division of the tate into districts will bre material y altered by the Leegislature, some the districts being made smaller ' area by reason of the growth and ensity of population. Spartanburg . Greenville alone, for instance, witk nearly 100,000 each, would nke a district big enough. It is more likely, however, that Spartan burg and Greenville will be separa ted, each being placed with smaller counties in separate districts. What changes will take place, however, no one can foresee,. as it will be entire ly in the hands of the Legislature eleeted next summer, if it is done! pmmptly. Some of the present .memabers of Congress may be practi cally legislated out of their districts, while others may have material cha.nges made in the territory they represent'I TANBURG WOMAN TAKES HER OWN LIFE.
