TRAIN FOR VE1ERANS. Annual Reunion of the Survivors of the Confederacy to be Held June 8 and 10. Mr. J. C. Lusk, division passenger agent of the Southern railway, at Charleston, completed arrangements Satuarday with Brig. Gen. Zimmer man Davis, commnaniding the Southi Carolina Division U. C. V., for a special train to handle th-e veterans and their friends from South Caro lino to Memphis, where the annual reunion of the Confederate Veterans will be held June 8-10, 1909. This special train will consist of first class day coaches and Pullman sleeping ears, and will leave Colum bia -at 1 p. m., Monday, June 7. go ing via Newberry, Greenwood, Bel ton and Greenville, thence through Atlanta., Birmingham and Frisco System. reaehing Memphis- about noon Tuesday, June 8, in time for all to get located and 'attend the exercises. witness the street parade, etc. This train will be !nown as the "Veterans' Special," and will have on board, leaving Columbia, Brig. Gen. Zimmerman Davis and B. H. Teague, and members of their staff. Also the State sponsor, Miss Mary Patterson, and Maids of ihonor; also Mrs. L. C. Crenshaw, of Chester, dame of -honor, who will accompany the veterans through to Memphis. Veterans and others from Charles ton, Orangeburg, Florence, Sumter, Bennettsville, Darlington, Camden, Chester, Winnsboro and other points in the eastern part of the State can arrive at Columbia on morning trains Monday June 7, and leave on the vet erans special at ' p. m. Leaving Rec: Hill 5 p. m., York vill 5:36 p. M., Blacksburg 6:45 p. In., Union 3:40 p. m., Spartanburg 8:05 p. m., Monday, June 7, connec tions will be made with the veterans' special at Greenville, thereby concen trating the entire South Carolina del egation into one solid train. Gen. Davis is especially anxious for all of the veterans in 'South Carolina who can do so, to join the special at some point en route, -and accordingly is co-operating with the railroads with a view of arranging' the best possible sehedules and train service.. Mr. Lud1 has also conferred .with the Hon. G. B. Timnmermann, of Batesburg, commanding ~the South Carolina Division, Sons of Veterans, and completed arrangeemnts to han dle the Sons of Veterans, froni this State on the veterans' special, leav ing Columbia 1 p. in., June 7. Very low rates for all points have been announced, tickets to be sold June 6, 7, 8 .and 9, limited to leave Memphis without deposit, up to and including June 14, 1909. By deposit ing tickets with special agent in Mem phis not earlier than June 9. or later than June 14, on payment of fee of 50 e?s, an extension of limit may be secured to leave Memphis not lat er than July 1, 1909. The va-rious camps throughout the State have already elected delegates and alternates, but it is certain that a large number of veterans ot-her than those who will be officeial mem bers of the convention, will attend the gathering. A feature of the annual reunion of Confederate Veterans. which is. per haps. most interesting to the general Spublic as well as the most enjoyable. is to see "the boys who wore the gray'' in the parade when thous ands march side by side as they did when they were fight'ing the battles with the Yankees in 'the sixties. This big parade will take place in Memphis this year. and the South Carolina Di vision will take conspicuous part.
