"When we arrived at the college o

the first thing we did was to pass
resolution providing that we mal>
I appropriations sufficient only to run
the college until we can have another
board meeting. We had so much
to consider at this meeting that I W
knew it would break us down if we
tried to accomplish all of it. So con- Clo
s sidoration of the annual budget and Th
the appropriations provided are only
j for a short while. Our next regular An
[ meeting time is in November, but wo
. expect to have a callcd meeting within '
the next 40 days to receive a report
. from the committee appointed to sc- Wl
s loot a director of agriculture to sue- Wl
i coed Prof. J. N. Hsrper, who has
boon transferred to the experimental Sh<
station at the collogc. By-the-wny, An
some people do not understand the "j
connection of the experimental station
with (lie college proper. As you Wl
know I lie station is supported almost Ap
entirely by United States government
appropriations. For this reason we Th
have it separated from the collogc. All
I he slat ion is under (lie supervision
of I he college, and the boohs, olc., of '|
the station are kept al the college.
However, a separate sor of books and Wl
accounts, etc., are kept.
"The only other business attend- j l.)o<
ed lo before adjournment was I ho As
passage of a resolution rprjuiring all He
new cadets to supply themselves with |
two mattress covers, which will cost 'I
about 82 cenls each. This was done!
as a matter of sanitary protection. An
"The college will have about 700
cadets (his year?the number it had j [,1V
before the dismissal of the MOO or
more cadets. Applications for admission
are numerous. Tn my opinion ''
the prospects for a successful year at
the college are very bright."
Col. Johnstone and Mr. Sease were
very tired. They hart Tieen up attending
a continuous mooring for two ^ '1
nights and nearly two days. The meeting
was a most important one, and
I ho I rust cos wore anxious lo accomplish
as much as possible in the short ....
lime I hoy wore al the eolloge. All
members of the board except Senator
Tillman, and f'apt. .John CI. Kichards
of Liberty Hill, wore present.
