IMPROVEMENTS GO ON.
Mr. Jos. Mann to Put in New Front
? Many New Vuildings Going up
-?Hotel Renovated.
Among the many improvements
that have been going on and are being
made in Now berry, Mr. Joseph
Mann has made a contract with Mr.
C. C. Davis to remodel his store in
i Main Street by putting in an entirely
new front, including plate glass and
ootherwise overhauling the storeroom.
Already in I his part of the city Mr.
1 (. J. McWiiirler has just completed
two brick stores and Thomas A. Williams
is finishing up one two story
brick building.
1 he new stores in (he burned dis-1
hid are all practically completed,
and Copelaiul Bros., and Mr. R. C*.!
W illiains hope to be moved into theirs
very soon.
There has never been a time in the
history of Newberry when there were
as many improvements going on as
have been made during this year.
People who have been away for six
months scarcely know the town when
they come into il now.
' Che Newberry Hotel is one of t'.ie
most marked evidences of this spir
it of improvement, and Dr. Wheeler
has had the interior completely over
hauled and has added very much to
the appearance of the building by
having it repainted. It is now one
1 of the best appointed hotels in this
P'irt oi ino s'atc, or for that trui'iet,
| anywhere else, and under the management
of Mr. Brock man, is growing
in popularity every day with the
traveling public.

per some days ago that Mr. F. IT.
t> Hyatt had gathered from his cotton
(> Held ii boll of cotton with twelve
r> locks, and that he had sent it on to
Atlanta to the cotton conference as
a curiosity. Mr. Joseph L. Keitt,
one of our most successful farmers
I of Newberry county, was in the city
e on Saturday, and said that one of his
hands had brought him a boll with
u eleven locks, which had been gathered
from 1>ne of his fields.
