Mr. Chappell expects to gather about seventy-live bushels from each acre. I lie Herald and News has a photograph of the field, and hopes to present the picture in one of the issues next week. The truth of the matter is, even the farmers themselves admit, that this year they have one of the best corn crops ever grown in this stale, and in a meat many cases the corn is made and remains only to bo harvested. M. Ivinard. Secretary. Struck by Lightning. On 1* riday evening* during a severe * storm of rain and hail" in No. 11 township, a small tenant house on Mr. R. L. Lominick's place was struck bv lightning and set on fire, but by active work on the part of the negroes the fire was put out. The whole 1 back part of the house was partly riddled. The crops in this section uffered great damage by the wind and hail. Germany's army on a pcacc footing is 010,000 men, and that of France is 007,000. TEACHER WANTED.
