That this act take ef and be of force from its passage. di,cussing his bill Mr. Byrd It must be apparent to everv that racial purity is indispensa to our national progress. Amiga 10on 'killeth the soul' of national e as is simplified by the effete 'ed Republics to the South of trdestroys tie nobler attriiutes stronger and intensifies tle a of the weaker .race and ulti begcts national decay. It is indeed, that any one shoul. illing to let the racial habili fn which God clothed the dif races, when ie created and lo hem in widely separated parts kearth,*bc preserved. This is best the races, as well as for the and progress of the country. I hatred intensifies with increas to this country at the rate ol. ce we already have nine or tei ns of negroes in the United s, and since the Asiatics are ng to our Western borders by thousand, and since migration all sections of the globe is pour. and one,-quarter millions 'per it is time for National Govern t to take a firm stand speak out his all important question. We recognize that the home is the of our cifilizaton and the mar altar is the birth place of everY amalgamation. dethrone the other. i the District of Columbia there e been quite a number of inter riages of the raes specially ng white and negroes, since the , and in some instances- Iwties e.fled from the neighboring states the National Capital in order to de the state laws in this regard. s the duty of congress to set ani ex ple to all thle states not having a on this subject by the immed e passage of this bill, and thereby ish a growing and far-reaching il in its incipianey. nt my Opintion there will be but tie dlifficulty in passing, if I am Ie to get the same repotetd from e Comitee, and, after beCing report if I can get, outr boss " Uncle Joe,' 10 is thle aiuthlir of all legislation, *give me dmt olporttunity t.o call the me up in the House.
