A resolution was adopted stating it as the sense of the camp that. it send at. least. as many as fifty repre senatives and more if the members could get off. It was also decided that as many of the members as could wear gray uniforms. The members are to report at New berry on the morning of th' 20th to Adj. Schumpert and then they will all go to Columbia, to be in charge f Com. J. W. Gary and Adjt: 0. L. Schumpert. The fare on the railroad has been reduced to $1.54 for the round trip, and as the distance is not great there should be a large delegation from this canip. After carefully studying the dock et6 we find that all cases have been properly e4tered and receipts filed according to law, showing that all fines and cost have been paid over to the county treasurer. We recommend that the magistrate of Township 4, who claims to have lost his docket on the train, be re quested to secure a tiue copy of his I docket and present the same at the < next term of court, for investigation. I And that the magistrate of Township 7 be ordered to present his docket. for investigation at the Iext term of < eourt. and shall show cause why he F failed to present the same at this ses sionl.I 3rd. The committee appointed by I the foreman to examine - the books, I papers, receipts and vouchers of the I various county officials reported that I they had performed that duty and find that all books, papers, receipts and vouchers appertaiiinin to the var- ' ions county officers (except the cor oner's docket) have been properly en terod ain( are correct in every parti enlar. - On investigation of the coroner's docket we find, that there have been inutests held by magistrates in the county that have not been enterea upon the dockets. V We therefore recommend that the I coroner he instructed to request said 1 magistrates to enter said cases upon 1 the coroner's docket at once and that I hereafter all inquests held by a mag- F istfate be entered upon-the coroner's docket promptly. 4th. The committee appointed by the foreman of the grand jury to in vestigate the general condition of the county home report4d that the in- i mates of said county home were high- t ly pleased with the treatment receiv- i ed at the hands of the present county i home keeper, and that the home is t kept in an excellent and sanitary con- t dition and that the general: condition and 'management during this year has t been satisfactory. - t 5th. The committee appointed to in vestigate the general condition of the I county jail reported that they had in spected all rooms and cells and find I them all in a good, clean, sanitary e condition-except the fence and brick wall in front of the jail needing re pairs. , We therefore recommend that said reparis be made at once. 6th. The committee ordered to ex amine the books of the county sup- t erintendent of education find thati the said officer has to sign, and is held responsible and under bond for a 1 large sum of money which does not - pass through his handa,. We, therefore, recommend that our representatives to, the legislature be ] requested to change the lawv authoriz ing that all money collected from the] 3 mill tax, dog tax and poll tax and apportioned among the five special districts of the county shall pass through the hands of the county sup erintendent of education. 7th. Whereas, The former grand jury have at various times recom.. mended that the Southern R. R. Co., open the pond \in Township 7 knowi as the Old Cut off, and whereas the said pond is very detrimental to the health of all parties living in that section. Therefore, your grand jury hereby respectfully requests that this court order the proper officers to have the said Southern R1. R. Co., to, open said pond at once. 8th.
