The meetings have been well at tended and the speakers have been given good attention. The people are thinking for themselves and are making up their minds as good citi zens should. Without predjudice. en deavoring only to select the best men for the various positions. When their verdict has been rendered there will be no protest. One oi the custom house ofnicials was recently in a reminiscent mood and entertained a few friends with some of his experiences with smug glers. The exploits related chiefly to bringing diamonds into the coun try.
