LICENSE ORDINANC STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, Til TOWN OF NEWBERRY. R THE PURPOSE OF MEETIN in part the current expenses of t Town government of the Town of Ne' berry, in the State of South Carolin for the fiscal year beginning Janua 1st, 1904, and to meet in part su other indebtedness of said Town as m become due in said fiscal year; Ther fore, be it ordained by the Mayor ai Aldermen of the Town of Newberry, said State, in touncil assembled and I authority of the same: SECTION 1. That the rTowvn Council of saidl 10 Town hereby reserves the right to re fuse or revoke any license for aniy cause which may seem to it just. Sac. 4. That- any person firm or corporation making any false or fraud tilent return, Where a return is nees. saiy or required un1der this ordinance, shall, upon conviction, be punisl((l a hereinafter provided, for tihe violation of this Ordinance or any part tihereof. Siw. 5. That Whenever inl this ordi niance the term l"deafor" is lsed the same shall include not only the princi pal, but in his, her or their absence shall include any agent, clerk or em ployee managing the business respec tively referred to; a.nd generally, where a license is herein imposed uplon any business and the same is carried on or conducted by an agent, clerk or em ployee, such agent, clerk or employee, shall be subject to the penalties im posed in this ordinance for its violation, should the said business be carried on without taking out such license, in the same manner as if he, she, or they were the .)roprietor or proprietors of said business. SSi-c. 6. Aw, violation of this ordi- C nance or ar part thereof shall subject the offend.r or offenders each t;o a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars, or to imprisonment with or without hard labor upon the streets or other public works of said Town for a peliod not ex ceeding thirty days, at the discretion of the court.
