THE NEWS OF UTOPIA. Christmas Very Quiet in No S-Many Charming Visitors -Personal Men tion-Other Matters. Utopia, January 7.-The Christ mas holidays passed off very pleas antly and very quietly. No 8 was delighted to have a number of charming- visitors. Mr. Homer Schumpert -came home from Clemsonto spend Christ mas. Mr. Willie Herbert pent Christ mas at home. Ae will return to Wofford on yoiday. Miss Laura Setzler spent Christ mas with Miss Annie Herbert, hav ing returned home this week. Mr. Bart Golden, of Arkansas, is visiting his sister, Mrs. John Rea gin. Mr. Fair and family, of Augusta, have been visiting his sister, Mrs. I. P. Connor, for some time. Miss Mary Herbert, the charm ing daughter of Mr. W. I. Herbert, is at home for a few days. Her many friends regret that she could not spend Christmas at home: Mr. Reagin, of Georgia, visited his brother, Mr. John W. Reagin, here last week. Mr. Reagin re turned home on Sunday. Mr. Willie Long and family, of Greenwood, spent Christmas at his mother's, Mrs. Lula Long. News From Excelsior Excelsior, S. C., January 7.-Our school opened again Monday morn ing after a week off for Christmas. Christmas passed quietly in this section and the weather was all that could have been desired. Master Aumerle Lorrick spent Christmas with relatives t Irmo. Mrs. Caroline Cook, who has been sick for the past two weeks, is able to be up again. Mr. Ira Nates, of Columbia, spent Christmas at his father's home here. Mrs. Shealy moved to Newberry last week, where she will make her home. Mr. Pink Cook and wife, of Co lumbia, spent Christmas with rel ativesin Bachman Chapel section. Mr. E. M. Shealy and family have moved to the St. Paul's com munity. Mr. Eddie Shealy, a student of! Lenoir college, Hickory, N. C., spent - his Christmas holidays at home. Mrs. 3. C. Singley and children visited relatives near Pomaria during the holidoys. Mrs. Setzler, of near Peak, vis ited Prof. 3. S. Wheeler's family here last week. Mrs. Setzler, an aged lady of abont 8o summers, is enjoying good health and can amuse anyone in talking of days past and gone. - A Family1Renlntn *The family of Mr. J. M. Taylor met at his home on January i to celebrate his seventy-first birthday. He has been married three times and has been blessed with nine sons, five daughters, forty grand children, and six great grand children living; two children and two wives have died. All of the children were pres ent except one of his sons, Dr. T. A. Taylor, who is in Texas. There were seventy-three present who en - joyed the occasion. At the hour for dinner a long table very richly provided was set in the yard. The smaller children spent the day in playing little games. while the older on es held pleasant conver-sations.
