The Pageland Journal Published Wednesday Mornings by The Journal Company ????????? ( C. M. Tucker, Editor , ?????????????? i Subscription Price - - $1.00 j Entered as second class mail matter at the post office at Pageland, S. C., under Postal Act of March 3, 1879. June 28, 1916 ALL FORDS The Columbia State advocates calling all the automobiles fords instead of car, auto or automobile. "Well, there wouldn't be much to change in the neck o' the woods except the capital letter for they are nearly all Fords now. hHAn Tn UK n.AYF.n The red clay road below Mt. Croglian which formerly tested the "cussin" capacity of travelers has been made into one of the finest pieces of road in the county by the simple process of rounding and sanding. We are not informed as to the cost of this work, but venture the statement that it cost less than half what it is worth. If there is a stretch of road in Chesterfield county that should be sanded it is the three miles from Pageland to the State line on the Monroe road. This road is used perhaps more than any road leading to Pageland, and Vet two or three days of rain puts it in a very bad condition. The road is fairly well rounded and but little work would be necessary to put it in shape for a coat of sand. Probably there will never be a better time to do this work than just after crops are laid by. Who will take the lead? NEARLY HALF GONE The time for Democrats of South Carolina to enroll their names on the club roll books of the party in the various precincts is nearly half gone, and there are many who have not been in formed of the requirements. If a man votes in the August primary he must appear in person and write his name or make his mark on the club roll of his precinct. The facts that his name was on the -^11 4 I i 1 . I Kill iwu years ajju anu ma; lie voted in the primary do not en title him to vote this year. Every voter must get his name on the new book of his club. The books close on the last Tuesday , in July. Then, sometimes the enrollment of the voters on the club rolls is confused with the registration for voting in the general election. The two are entirely separate. The enrollment is for voting in the Democratic prim ary; the registration for voting in general election in November. < The registration board is pub- < lishing a notice of registration in each of the papers in this county so that no man may have reason to say he did not know. The | man who has his registration , certificate anti who was allowed to vote two years ago in the * general election is not required J to register again. A registration certificate that was valid two vears ago will be valid in the November election. Onlv those who have become of voting age since the last election, those ] who have moved, and those t who for other reasons may not have registered will he required 1 to produce a new certificate of ( registration. f 1 D A * J 11 uuy ncciaeniaiiy Hilled S Lonnie, the 4 year-old son of 1 Mr. and Mrs. Belk Autry of Douglass, Ga , was victim of a fatal accident on Thursday, June c 15.
