The name of the famoi Culebra cut in the Panama can, ' has been changed from Culebi to Gaillard in honor of David I Gaillard, of South Carohn who for more than six veai had charge of the centri division of the canal which ii eluded this cut. Col. Gaillar died in December 1913 as result of his exertions in tli canal zone.
