Beipg a resolute fellow, and fear ,ing that delay might be dangerous, he sup. ..plied hintself with a brace of Fistol", and with two friends on whon he could rely, -ook the bold step of going to the house of *the suspected party, which was reached at a late hour in the evening. On obtaining a private interview he stated blandly, that Iie believed some mistake had taketn place .between them oA money matters, which lie was destrous should be quietly arranged. In reply. lie received a flat denial of any such mistake -ever hiving occured. Fitid ing that "soft sawder" would be of no avail, lho altered his tactics; told him with a de termined air that lie was in no mood to be trifled with-that. he had indubitable evi. denc' of the money having been obtained by him: and presenting his pistols, t hrent ened to shoot himn on tne spot if it were not that instant forthcominig.
