TO HIS HONOR THE PRESIDING JUDGE: In pursuance of the Act of the General Assembly entitled "An Act to make further provia. ion for the security of public monies under the control of the dillerent Boards of Commission ers in the State" passed in December 1814. The Commissioners of Public Buildings for Sumer District, R EPORT That the Commissioners at their meeting in January of the presentyear laid an assessment of twenty-five per cent on the general tax of the District for t le pur pose of raising funds to discharge the balance due to J. Loomas & Co, on their contract for addition and repairs on the Court louse and for other expenses. The sums collected and paid over to the Treasurer of the Board tinder the said assessmnont by the respective Tax Collecters of the District are as follows: viz: L. 11. linkirid collector for Claremont has paid over the sun of twelve hundred and ninety-six dollardi venty.four cents, and has lodged executions for taxes unpaid in the Sheriff's Office for the amount of seventy-five dollars and eighty-two cents; James McCollum, collector for S:dem line paid the sum of seven hundred and fourteen dollars and forty-five cents; and Wm. F. Butler, collector for Clarendon has paid the sum of six hundred and ninety-one dollars and thirty. seven coets, making the amount paid to the Treasurer under the assessment, the sum of twenty-seven hundred and two dollars and six cents. The sum of twenty-four hundred dol lars has been paid on the Court Ilouse contract, discharging the debt, except the sum of one hundred dollars which was retained on account of a defect discovered in the roof, till the same shall be remedied. Besides which payments have been iade for shelving the new ollices and other extra work, furnishing the Court Room and raising and levelling the yard, the pay ments for which are stated in Treasurer's Account accompanying this report, which is refer red to for more particular information.
