Mere noy, Rollers' candidate for Slier ill, who was defeated by the veil need majority of two hundred and liiVy-eight. it is proper to say hero, that in the County, two of the old voting precincts were closed, at which the " 1 ...n ?n .u.. i iy'iiCrS WUISU pn'UaUl V liuvu ivucnuu vvir j sidovablo additions to their vote. The pre- j cincls arc known as ('uretou's Mill and i Lizonby's. The first has not b.cn opened i except mice, IV,r a general election, since the war. lr.it no notice was given that it would he dosed. At liizen'oyV. managers were np!) >h;t d. hut they failed to attend, tiic chairman refusing to open the poll because lie had ih> dork, and another of the managers had lust by do nth, a sLter-in-law. The clerkloss manager, so we learn, went out coon/muting! it was between six and seven miles to the nearest precinct, Haley's Mill, and man v persons thereby lost the opportunity of voting. The precinct at Haley's Mill is a new one, none having been opened there before, and the one at Buffalo has been closed without notice and there also, many votes were undoubtedly lost fur the Bolters, as Haley's 31 ill is from twelve to fifteen miles from Buffalo, too far Jbr those without horses to go. The notices of election and appointment of managers and precincts which were to be [opened, bear date October 5. 1872, though ! thev were not circulated until the 8th, about the County and not posted in town until the 1 lilt, and not published in the Journal, the only newspaper in the County, until the 15th inst. Aoolication was made to the J Commissioners of Election on the the 14th, ; to have the Cureton's Mill pull opened, lm* the request was peremptorily refused. Two of the Commissioners were candidates for office in this election, and the great majority of the managers appointed were Regular Republicans. j These facts are published without, comi incut. There is some talk of contesting the i election on certain of the above mentioned ! grounds, which causes us to forbear couti mcnting on them at this time. Rut we only j state a fact when we add that the impression among the Rubers is. that if the pulls abuve I named as closed had been opened, the elee| tion would have been much closer and may | have resulted in a victory for theui.
