PROSPECTUS OF THE 11 Hornets' Nest and True Southron," In giving this p per an additional or sir-name, we deem it due to the readers ol it, especially those who have approved of its course for the past twelve months, to give an expose of its future conduct. It is well known to those who have been observers of political events for some time past, that since we commenced the publication of this paper, the abolition question which took root long ago, and which has been growing until its upas branch es threaten to poison (tie country, witn its u angnant shade, has worn a more aggravated aspect than it ever did before. U|H>n the first apprehension felt by us that the question was growing more serious and important; upon the first jealous misgiving we experienced that the northern fanatics had so far succeeded, as to be marshalling their forces beneath jhe very caves of our national capitol, we became alarmed for the safety of the South, and had our every impulse enlisted in her behalf. This, every number of our paper for a long time has been proof to. , We saw as every one may have s ?en, that a crisis was approaching which must result in entirely denationalizing the whole of the slave States, placing them in a State of bondage, of complete vassalage to those at the north, who with pretend. en svmpainy tor our jwim were loaning e?ci/ cifort to become themselves our masters. Seeing this, every feeling of our nature, every conviction of our reason, every spark of sympathy in our bosom impelled ?s toeing our feeble aid in with those who were battling for the South. Southern therefore has been the character of this paper, and Southern it shall continue to be. Pursuing a policy suicidal to themselves and dangerous to tho South, the Whiirs in this State, have as a party, opposed the Southern movement in all its phases, and thus are we. while consistently, and aswe believe righteously acting so far as o: r efforts go, for the best interests of the South, brought up antagonistic to that party upon the only issues nuw before the people lor the salvation and pwperity of the South. If whiggery consists in opposition to what the Smith has pou?ht as remedies to prevent disunion and sustainfier position, to guard h?r tights and preserve her instilu'ionb, then we are no whig. If.it consists in opposition to the Nashville Convention in opposition to the Missouri Compromise line, ir. an approval of the Committee's Omnibus adjustment Compromise, tve are no whig. If it consists in approving the administration of a nortnern man, who said he would appoint no man to his cabinet ihat was from a State that sent del. egaies to the Nashville Convention, we are no whig. Of these things, against every protest that we have been able to make, is North Carolina whig, oenr bv its leaders made to consist, and we are driven to the alternative of abjuring it while it re. mains such, pow and henceforth. There is no escape from such a position. We must either become what we believe to be dangerous, and deadly dangerous, totho South, UDder the above modern platform of North Carolina whiggery, or sustain our past position of friendship to the South and abjure such whiggery. We prefer the latter. (Juder,the ptringency: of such circumstances as we have endeavored toexplain, we shall work with whatever party at the South, seemeth to us to be aiming at the accomplishment of the same noble end?the honor, safety, and independence of the South- It it be thai we labor with the democrats, so be it. They have wisely and patriotically taken the proper stand, and if we are found with thetn it is because witn the same goal in view, we have inet upon the same common highway, and not because of tlie least inconsistency of p< l.tical conduct in either. The course of this paper shall be in strict accor dance with the foregoing exposition, and e trust the aid we shall receive from the friends of the South will be such as to ncite us to renewed exertions in ber lehalf. We should have put forth no manifesto in favor of ourselves, but on behalf of the Suuth, oil behalf of that democracy which carries the flag'of the South, we confidently bespeak a generous support for "The True Southron." - LAWRENCE BADGER.
