McKAlN. Mav 25. i 5T|f The following are token from a great number of Certificates of its efficacy:? Extract of a letter from Mr. Henry Clay, dated Ashland, Ky., Jan. 1,1641. Dear sir,?At tho request of un apothecary in Lexington, Ky. I write to gain some information about your invaluable mineral water. He wishes to obtain a supply to keep on sale. A few dozen hotties, which I obtained at Louisville, have contribu ted more to restore my health than all the medicine and advice I have taken for the last fifteen years, during which time I have suffered much from dye. pepsia and soro mouth. Yours respectfully, HENRY CLAY, Jun. Mr. Calwoll. From the Hon. F. W. Pickens, Member of Congress from South Carolina. Dear sir,?I received jours in relation to tho trans parted White Sulphuj Water. I used it last spring, and found it very fine. It seems to me to bo fully as good as when used at the Springs. I am satisfied it can be brought into general use, and will bo found of great scrvico. I Yours very respectfully, F. W. PICKENS. ; From the Hon. J. K. Paulding, Secretary of the Navy. j Washington, 3d Dee. 1840. Gentlemen?Owing to tho benefit received from | my visit to tho Wliitu Sulphur Springs last sum- ? incr, I have not yot had occasion to drink any of the water you sent me; but having, on more than one occasion, used it as it came to this place in bot ties, I am of-opinion, if carefully put up, that it undergoes little if any deterioration or change in its qualities or cffcts. Your friend and servant, j J. K PAULDING. Messrs. Win. B. Calwcll &. Co. , From Dr. Willson. 'For the last twelve or thirteen years I have resided in the neighborhood of the White Sulphur Springs, and have had frequent opportunities ot observing the beneficial effects of waters, when Temoved from the spring in bottles and barrels. The aative properties of this water depend upon the saline ingredients which it contains. In cor- | roborntinn of thi" opinion, I stalo that I have known individuals in this place use the water after it had been kept in barrells for twelve months, and aAor it appeared to have parted with all or most of its volatile properties, and that it acted as promptly and efficiently as when used at the spring. HUGH WILSON, M. D. ( Lcwisburg, March 6th, 1839, From the Rev. Win. S Plumcr, D D. Editor of ' the Watchman of the South. Tho Subscriber has had considerable ofportunity of testing tho value of the White Sulphur Water tvhen brought to Richmond. He has used it in his , family the last summer and the present, and is hap. The samo gontleman, in the "Watchman of the South," of the 23d July, remarks, "The Editor of this paper has used the White Sulphur Water freely, in his family, and has no doubt of its efficacy being great in ordinary cases. I From the Hon. Win. R. King. Senator in Congress , from Alabama. i White Sulphur Springs, 10th Aug. 1840. Sir?Towards the close ot the last session of Congress, which had been protracted to an unusual length, I found that tlio confinement to which I ( had been subjected had affected my health most in- j juriously. The tone of my stomach was materially > destroyed, and tny digestive powers greatly impair- J cd. By tho advice of my physician, I procured the ' water of this Spring in bottles, and used it with j tho happiest effects. I have no question tliut the White Sulphur Water can be transported to any distance without impairing its medicinal properties. Very respectfully, I am your obedient servant, WILLIAM ft KING.
