A giraffe belonging to Forepaugh's circus

the same establishment, was being carried

the Nebraska State chemist gives nearly
twecty-two per cent, from the root anc

broska chemist are correot, it does noi
follow that this weed will make as goot
leather as bark. There are peculiai
properties for making good leather fount
in bark that, so far as is generally
known, have never boon equaled in an3
other material. More or less ?anni<
acid is found in almost every plant thai
grows, and in some the percentage o:
tannin is as high as from forty-four t<
fifty per cent. Yet the leather produoec
by the use of these plants has nevei
come into favor, and tliat made from
some cf them is bad in color.
