Capt. Roberts, from New Oi leans for '
Liverpool, arrived at her dock in Port '
Royal on Sunday morning. She was 1
drawing nineteen feet of water when she ^
left New Orleans, and was detained two 1
days in getting hrough the mud at the "
passes of the Mississippi. No such difficulty
occurred here, as after taking in 0
three hundred tons of coal she can go to v

Thayer, of twelve hundred tons, for j
Liverpool, on a draft of seventeen and v

to sea yesterday forenoon by the steam ^
tug Republic. She went out handsome- j

The ship mentioned was obliged to
wait several days until a spring tide gave 1
her an opportunity to get over the bar- ^

loaded at Port Royal she could have gone ,,

The writer of this notice became acquainted with

Lord. Two of her sons became ministers of the gospel,
and oi e a deacoo of the church or her choice,

S. C. On that day Rev. Joseph
1. Walker will preach his fiftieth nnuiersary
sermon. The tender relations
etween him and the people of his charge,
bus existing for half a century, will be

his feast of the church. Dr. Walker was
ndained deacon in the 22d year ol his age,

ninistry.
Soon after, Dr. Walker assumed his

hurch, he was advanced to the Priestlood
in Baltimore, by the gratefully
enicmbered Bishop of Maryland.
By a singular train of circumstances,
egarded as providential, he was led to
cceptacall to St. Helena Church, Beaubrt,
S. C., of which church he took
brmal charge, and officiated as rector,
he first time, on Christmas day, A. D.
823, since which time without interrupt
ion. except durine the late civil war, he
ias faithfully performed the duties of a
