The Directors of the Mechanics and Agricultural Fair Association of New Orleans, La., have resolved to hold a Southern States Agricultural and Me? chanical Exposition in that city, which will be open to tho 'world, commencing February 20, 1870, and continuing ten days, covering the Mardi Gras festivities and the firemen's anniversary. It will be under tho auspices of the association and a board of special commissioners, composed of the Governors of the Southern States, tho President of | Mexico, tho Exectitivo Officers of the Central American States, tho United States Ministers to Mexico and Central America, tho Masters of the State Granges of the Patrons of Husbandry, and a Commissioner at largo from each Southern State. Tho work of prepara? tion is to commence at once, and a bureau of information is to bo opened on the first of July. Tho expenses are to be met by an assessment on the stock of the members of tho association, and an appeal to the mercantile community for an appropriation of $25,000.
