Keeley, of Master street, which is intended to supersede steam. By the use of two gallons of water, be olaims to. be able to run a train from Philadelphia to San Fran cisoo and back. The seorot is known only to the inventor, who elates that hia simple .process will oreate a pressure of 6,000 pounds to the square inoh, that of steam being only about 30 to 200 pounds. A model fer the patent office is being finished. Many prominent men in New York and Worcester, Massachusetts, are re? ported to have advanced money for its completion, on oondition of receiving the exclusive right of its disposal in certain localities. The water is used over and over again, and no fuel, che? micals, eleotrioity or magnetic currents axe used. On the 10th ultimo a sno cessfsl and astonishing test ?ras made in the presence of three experts, pledged to secrecy. The machine is locked np, and even its shape is coo* oealed. It holds about fourteen gal? lons of water. In working it the water was taken from a oommon hy? drant near by. -.???*??- ? ?? Another "cruel war" will soon be declared. Grant and Butler, it is said, are now at sword's points. Print that book, Benjamin, that book on Grant which was held bach in 1868. It will never soil better than now. Mansion House, JM\ Main Street. The Commissioner of Agriculture, in his report for 1865. says that Prof. Mapes, of New York, analyzed the beer from a dozen different breweries, and found all ol it adulterated. Coocnlns Indiens and nux vomica entered largely into its composition. J. C. 8FEGER8 guarantees his beer tobe pure and reliable.
