Tas EfsxauaiAiiM. or Honesty.?A great many good epeoobes were made daring tbo canvass; bot one of tbe wisest einoe the eleoUon ia that which tbe Hon. 8. 8. Oox, of New York, has just delivered at Annapolis, where he had a torch-light serenade. Hero is a bod.nd sentiment from tbe heart of it: "While we ponr out the oil of heal? ing into the woonds of tbe State, let ub also lift op the banner of the peo? ple, North and South, in the genuine enthusiasm of hooesty. No suspected or bad man should now be in front. It is the year for the jubilee of putri otio bonoBty. "Well, why should all enthusiasms be limited to the arts nnd soiences, to the author nnd the inventor, to the poet and the religionist? Is there no genniue love for the country? Is all patriotism to be rallied to a salary or a job? Is it not sweet to live and din, ob well as to 6toal and grab, for one's country? I am for living jast now." Mournful Coincidence.?Two very remarnable incidents happened lately in the village of Fairhaven, Mass. Two aged sisters, who inhabited houses at opposite corners, died at same timo. Eaoh matron was tbe head of a large family, eaoh fnneral was appointed at the same hour. Tbe hearse eontaining the body of the eldeat sister passed on first to the cemetery, when tbe family of the other sister fell into the line of mourners with their burden. A few days later, two young ladies living in neighborhood died, who were engaged to be married to oousins. Their wed? ding-dresses were thofr shrouds. There is a queer railroad trouble in Indiana. A road being in debt for1 $2,000 taxes, the sheriff of the towu where they are duo is trying to attach a locomotive. The law does not allow bim to take the locomotive of a mail train, and now the freight trains don't stop at that town, but run through, all handf deriding the sheriff, who soeB no way to secure his looomotivo.
