The only postmasters to be changed are those at Galveston aud Houstou. The President has already, through the Postmaster-General, requested them to resign, but they have us yet made no response. The Postmnter-General can eeen no good reason for making other post office changes in Texas, though politicians there are erging removals, hct that the vacancies may be supplied by persons whose chief recommenda? tion is their greater activity in politics. The Postmaster-General desires to re? tain those postmasters against whom no charges oau be sustained of moral and business unGtuess. Secretary Bristow is convinced that changes Oligui to ub Uuude umuug certain Trea? sury officers in Texas, and this will be done at an early day, bat with circum? spection. Business in some oases has been loosely transacted, to the loss of the customs and internal revenue, and hence the necessity for prompt action. I The Wohld Motes.?As everybody known, the Baptists are close- coos munionists?that is. tbey do not invite Christians who have not been baptized by immersion to partake of tbe Lord's Bnpper with them. A few of this de? nomination do not regard this as an essential doctrine, bot as a general rule both clergy and laity cling to it with much tenacity. The Rev. J. Hy? att Smith, one of the most brilliant preachers in America, has for some years shown a disposition to differ from his brethren in the interpreta? tion of the chnroh standard upon tbe subject of close oommnnion, and as n pastor of the JL o street B iptist Church, iu New York, has invited Christians of other evangelical deno? minations to commune with bis peo? ple. At the meeting of the Long Is? land Baptist Association, yesterday, the Lee street Church wus dropped from the list of the churches of the Association on account of this disre? gard of what is held to be an essential doctrine of the church. {Baltimore American, 22'/.
